Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan has welcomed today's announcement by Cooper Energy and Mitsui Group of their $55 million investment into the region at the Minerva gas plant, north-west of Port Campbell.
Mr Tehan said it was a fantastic announcement with the ‘shovel ready’ project delivering important infrastructure and vital local jobs. Furthermore the delivery of the project will see an increased domestic gas supply for south-east Australia.
This is a significant regional announcement for jobs, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic and signals to our local community that there is ongoing business confidence in Wannon.
This confidence helps reset our economy and provides momentum for other businesses to come to Wannon.
I am also pleased that Cooper Energy and Mitsui Group are employing local contractors in their works program. This project is expected to create about 30-50 local jobs during execution with 20 ongoing local jobs, which is a win for Wannon.
I want to thank Cooper Energy and Mitsui Group for this investment and their commitment to recovering the Minerva plant from mothballing.
