NEW GUIDE FOR GRANDPARENTS

October 5, 2020

The Morrison Government is encouraging grandparents and carers to download the eSafety Commissioner’s new guide on how to teach their grandchildren about online safety as part of the Government’s successful Be Connected program.

Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, said that the new guide could also help grandparents in Wannon to develop their own online safety skills.

“With a number of older Australians here in Wannon, I also encourage them to check out this new guide as well as the Government’s successful Be Connected program,” Mr Tehan said.

Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, said that everyone has a part to play in keeping kids safe online.

“With many older Australians caring for their grandchildren an average 12 hours a week, we know kids are spending some of this time online,” Minister Fletcher said.

“This new guide will help grandparents learn what they need to know to make sure that their grandchildren can safely enjoy their time online.”

“It’s especially important that they learn these skills, as many grandparents will be spending more time with their grandkids during school holidays.”
