Nelson Men’s Shed is set to benefit with a grant under the Morrison Governments Stronger Communities Programme.
Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan today announced $2,500 in funding, enabling the Nelson Men’s Shed to purchase a trailer and crate.
“The trailer will assist the Nelson Men’s Shed in undertaking important fundraising activities for the community,” Mr Tehan said.
“These investments have a significant impact in a local community such as Nelson, including encouraging greater community participation and social networks, improving local amenities, and of course providing lasting upgrades or equipment which supports our communities in future opportunities for growth,” said Mr Tehan.
Graeme Walker President of Nelson Men’s Shed said “he was elated that the Men’s Shed had been successful in receiving funding for the purchase of the new trailer”.
The Nelson Men’s Shed has been recycling bottle and cans for the last four years and all the funding raised from this activity is being directed towards the development of a new Men’s Shed with room for community use for Nelson. The trailer will be instrumental in enabling us to transport the recyclables as well as assist with our other activities including fire wood deliveries”, said Mr Walker.
The trailer will be used for the benefit of the wider Nelson community.
This project is part of a $22.6 million investment under Round 6 of the Morrison Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
Round 6 of the Stronger Communities Programme focuses on driving the nation’s economic recovery from COVID-19 and strengthening communities plays a vital role in this.
