Staff and students at Monivae College in Hamilton will benefit from work to extend and upgrade the school’s existing performing arts facility, and St Pius X School in Warrnambool West will benefit from a new project that will deliver refurbished classrooms and outdoor learning areas, funded as part of the Morrison Government’s Capital Grants Program.
Member for Wannon Dan Tehan said the Australian Government would provide $1,500,000 towards the project at Monivae College and $1,000,000 towards St Pius X School.
“Students and staff at Monivae College will benefit from the extension to the existing performing arts facility, with construction and refurbishment work to add new additional specialist areas for performing arts,” Mr Tehan said.
Mr Tehan said the St Pius X School project will include refurbishment work to classroom learning areas in an existing building and outdoor general learning areas, and work to create a school amphitheatre.
“Both St Pius X School and Monivae College have wonderful school communities, and these new facilities will further enhance the learning environment.
“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities. That’s why the Morrison Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program, which has helped thousands of schools across the nation to build new and updated infrastructure.
“Our Government is ensuring that every child gets a high-quality education no matter where they go to school. We are providing a record $315.2 billion for all Australian schools between 2018 and 2029.
“We are delivering real, needs-based funding that is matched by national reforms that will drive better results and outcomes, as recommended by David Gonski in the Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools.
“I congratulate Monivae College on their successful grant application and look forward to seeing the positive impact these new facilities will have on the school community.”
