I took a petition to the House of Representatives calling on the Victorian State Government to fund the resources to enable a second paramedic ambulance night shift in Hamilton, Victoria.
Currently there is only one paramedic ambulance for the 13-hour night shift to serve the whole of the Southern Grampians LGA. Local paramedics, who came to me to raise this concern, are deeply worried because when they are called out at night, a second paramedic ambulance has to be called from a surrounding town if there is another emergency. The time it takes for it to arrive could be the difference between life and death.
The petition has over 1,200 signatures from the town of Hamilton which has a population of 8,000 people. This shows the level of concern around this issue. The Allan Labor Government needs to act.
