FEDERAL MEMBER FOR WANNON SHADOW MINISTER FOR IMMIGRATION AND CITIZENSHIP
Shadow Ministry
Immigration and Citizenship
Immigration is central to Australia’s national story and identity. From a population of about 7 million people after the Second World War, Australia has grown to a nation of more than 25.7 million people in 2022. In recent years, Australia’s population growth has largely been driven by immigration. Migrants who become Australian citizens make an ongoing commitment to Australia and its values. Citizenship entails additional responsibilities to the Australian community as well as individual privileges.
As the Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, I will be closely examining the work of the government and the Department of Home Affairs – Immigration and Citizenship.
