In the lead-up to Christmas, Australians want to know their families are safe.
And if the Albanese Labor Government can’t guarantee the safety of Australians, the next best thing is to be transparent and tell us.
Next week, convicted terrorist Abdul Nacer Benbrika, who was plotting to commit a mass terrorist attack on Australian citizens, including allegedly an attack on the AFL grand final at the MCG, is expected to be released from custody.
The Labor Government has chosen not to ask the courts to continue Benbrika’s detention.
And the Prime Minister won’t say why they are letting this happen?
This hapless Albanese Labor Government refuses to be upfront with the Australian people when it comes to the risks they face over Christmas and New Year because of the Government’s bungled response to immigration detention.
Media reports today that Immigration Minister Andrew Giles has “quietly lifted” the curfew and monitoring requirements on two detainees released from immigration detention.
How many other criminals have had their monitoring and curfew conditions removed by Minister Giles?
Why isn’t Minister Giles transparent with the Australian people about the status of the criminals released into the community?
The Government still hasn’t said how many murderers, rapists, child abusers, outlaw bikie gang members, and other criminals have been released by Labor.
Minister Giles still hasn’t said how many hardcore criminals he will seek to redetain under the preventive detention regime.
Labor is doing too little too late to keep Australians safe.
