Better Roads and Rail with more Federal funding for our local roads, highways and rail networks
Roads must continue to be a priority for all levels of government because they are a key priority for our regional and rural communities. It is on our roads that the milk, livestock, crops and timber are transported to and from markets.
It is on our roads that our children travel to and from school and to play netball and football. Our roads must be well maintained and safe. I’m working hard to deliver the roads and rail funding that our communities deserve.
The Coalition, when in Government, invested in the following key projects across Wannon:
- $20 million for the Princes Highway West from Colac to the SA border;
- $80 million for the Henty Highway, Portland-Nelson Road and Portland-Casterton Road and Princes Highway West;
- $60 million for the Princes Highway West between Warrnambool and Port Fairy;
- $20 million for the Princes Highway West between Terang and Boorcan, Heywood, Dartmoor and near Port Fairy;
- $360 million for the Western Highway duplication from Ararat to Stawell;
- $226 million for the upgrade of the Warrnambool to Melbourne rail line;
- $100 million + for the Princes Highway Corridor Strategy upgrade across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
This is on top of our $2.2 billion Road Safety Package, increasing funding to target black spots and to improve local roads.
