Can Australians trust Andrew Giles?

Home / Shadow Ministry / Can Australians trust Andrew Giles?

The key question for Australians is do you trust this hopeless and hapless Immigration Minister, Andrew Giles, to keep you safe?

Giles has announced a new Ministerial Direction 110 that he claims would correct the flaws in his original direction, yet it still keeps ties to Australia as a primary consideration.

If elected, a Coalition Government will rescind Direction 110 and remove ties to Australia as a primary consideration.

Can Australians trust Giles? This is the same Labor Immigration Minister who said drones were monitoring criminals in the community then blamed his department when that was revealed as untrue.

Even today, Giles could not admit that he got it wrong when he signed Ministerial Direction 99 that has allowed criminal non-citizens to remain in Australia, including one man who was allowed to remain in this country then went on to allegedly commit murder.

Given Ministerial Direction 110 is still flawed, can Australians trust Giles to demonstrate a level of vigilance and competence when it comes to monitoring his new direction that he has never demonstrated previously as Minister?

The Coalition will be watching Giles and the operation of Ministerial Direction 110 like a hawk to ensure the Australian people are kept safe.

This Labor Government was asleep at the wheel as criminal non-citizens who should have been deported were allowed to remain in Australia.

The Albanese Labor Government prioritised the wishes of Jacinda Ardern over the safety of Australians and as a result they wrote a flawed Ministerial Direction that led to criminal non-citizens being allowed to remain in Australia.
