This week, I received a powerful message from Aden Gilding, a concerned resident of South West Victoria. His email paints a stark picture of the worsening drought gripping our region — and the toll it’s taking on our farmers.
Many have been forced to truck in water, destock livestock, or abandon farms that have been in their families for generations. The financial pressure is immense, but perhaps even more concerning is the mental and emotional strain so many are facing.
Aden’s message is clear: our communities cannot do this alone. It’s time for stronger and more immediate support from both State and Federal Governments.
I stand with our farmers — and I will continue to call for the urgent help they need.
