Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, has announced that all 23 applications from the Wannon electorate in the 2024–25 Volunteer Grants round have been approved, with a total of $64,725 in funding awarded to support local volunteers and their vital work in the community.

“As your local member, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact of volunteering across Wannon,” Mr Tehan said. “Our volunteers are the backbone of many community organisations and their hard work continues to strengthen our region.

“I’m proud to support the efforts of these organisations which play a key role in supporting local families and businesses. Volunteering brings people together and also delivers significant social and economic benefits to our communities.”

The successful applicants are:

  • THE OTWAY LIGHT - $3,000
  • SOUTH WESTERN MODEL ENGINEERS INC - $1,700
  • HEYWOOD GOLF CLUB INC - $1,000
  • MERINO DIGBY LIONS CLUB - $2,100
  • PORTLAND CROQUET CLUB INC - $3,000
  • THE OLD COURTHOUSE COMMUNITY CENTRE - $1,200
  • PORT FAIRY BOWLS CLUB - $2,500
  • EAST FRAMLINHAM GOLF CLUB INC - $4,860
  • 1ST BEAUFORT SCOUT GROUP - $2,350
  • WAUBRA FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB - $1,000
  • RAGLAN HALL & RECREATION RESERVE COMMITTEE - $4,000
  • MT ROUSE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY INC - $2,405

    TOTAL: $64,725

The funding allocated by the 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Round can be used to purchase small equipment, cover the cost of insurance, or pay for items and services that support volunteers or volunteer-led activities, particularly those benefiting children under the age of 18.

Volunteers remain at the heart of many Australian organisations, with millions across the country dedicating their time and skills to support others and help their communities thrive.
