The Roads to Recovery Program supports the maintenance of the nation's local road infrastructure assets, which facilitates greater accessibility and improves safety, and economic and social outcomes for Australians. The Program provides funding to all local government authorities (LGAs). Funding recipients are responsible for choosing road projects on which to spend their Roads to Recovery funding based on their local priorities.
Roads to Recovery Program allocations for local governments are distributed according to a formula based on population and road length set by the Local Government Grants Commission for each state and the Northern Territory. These are based on the roads component of the Financial Assistance Grant program.
