Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, has invited Senator the Hon Jane Hume, Shadow Minister for Finance and Chair of the Cost-of-Living Committee to Warrnambool for a Cost-of-Living Forum on Thursday 18 May.

Mr Tehan said he had heard from many people in Wannon who are experiencing higher mortgage rates, higher energy prices, and higher grocery bills.

The Budget on Tuesday night was a test for Labor, and they failed. We needed a Budget that reduced inflation and reined in spending to combat the cost-of-living crisis facing all Australians.

The Budget failed to deliver on the interim cost-of-living report; in fact, the Government’s Economic and Fiscal Strategy removes addressing inflation as a priority.

This Budget has made life harder for all Australians, but particularly in Wannon, where a family with kids will be around $25,000 worse off.

Shadow Minister for Finance and Chair of the Cost-of-Living Committee, Senator Jane Hume, said Australians needed a Budget that reduces inflation and reined in spending to combat the cost-of-living crisis facing all Australians.

“Labor has delivered a high taxing, high spending Budget that will only worsen the cost-of-living crisis for Australians,” said Senator Hume.

“I call on individuals, organisations, and businesses to come to the community forum in Warrnambool so we can even better understand where the cost-of-living pressure points are.”

If you can’t make it to the Forum but would like to contribute to the Committee, you can make a submission via a 5-minute survey at yourcostofliving.au.

I also understand that you may not be able to attend in person; if you contact my office on 1300 131 692, we can arrange for you to join the meeting via Teams (Microsoft) so you can ask questions of Shadow Minister Hume and myself.
