A group of Wannon runners will arrive in Terang today to finish their charity run that started in Adelaide on Saturday.

The group of 12 runners and support crew have covered more than 900kms from Adelaide to Terang via Blanchetown, Renmark, Mildura, Hopetoun, Horsham, and Hamilton.

This is the second Run for CJD to raise awareness and money for Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD) — a rare and incurable disease that causes the brain to degenerate, leading to dementia and death. Each year about 50 people in Australia die from this disease.

Every runner taking part in the charity relay run has a personal connection to CJD.

Member for Wannon Dan Tehan is part of the Run for CJD running team and running in honour of his mother.

“There were plenty of times when the legs wanted to give up but I’m very proud of the team that we have achieved what we set out to do,” Mr Tehan.

“When you have lost a loved one to CJD it puts things in perspective and our shared experience helped drive the team.

“If you want to support our effort, you can donate via our donation page at the CJD Support Group Network webpage raise much needed funds to help with research and assist in clinical trials.”

Last year, the Run for CJD raised more than $100,000 through its charity run from Canberra to Warrnambool.
