Labor’s net zero rollout hitting households

Chris Bowen is in danger of being referred to the ACCC. Electricity prices have risen by $1,300 under his watch but now he is boasting about a one-off reduction on average of $77.

The latest Default Market Offer (DMO) confirms Aussie households are yet to see Chris Bowen’s promised $275 cut to energy bills.

Electricity prices have risen by $1,300 under Labor – this latest data from the Australian Energy Regulator is cold comfort for Australian families.

The DMO further confirms that Labor’s botched renewable energy rollout is driving up costs, with the DMO stating that, “Compared with 2025–26, network charges have mostly increased due to the revenue paths, increasing transmission costs, inflation ….”.

Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction Dan Tehan said Australians are suffering because of Chris Bowen’s Net Zero obsession.

“Aussie families are still waiting to see the promised $275 cut to their energy bills, yet another broken promise in a long list,” Mr Tehan.

“Under Labor, a record 230,000 households are in energy hardship.

“The fact is, energy prices have risen by $1,300 under the Albanese Labor Government with no guarantee they won’t continue to rise.

“Australian households continue to pay more than families in comparable countries, including Canada, New Zealand and the United States.

“The botched rollout of large-scale renewables is putting additional pressures on our energy network, which is having a negative impact on prices.”
