The Albanese Labor Government is continuing to roll out the red carpet for its Pre-COP climate conference, with more than $20 million in new spending approved to support the Net Zero talkfest in Fiji and Tuvalu.
According to new data from AusTender, the following contracts have been awarded to support Australia’s co-hosting of the international climate conference:

This latest climate conference spend follows earlier revelations of more than $4.2 million of taxpayer money being set aside for politicians, bureaucrats and activists to stay at luxury hotels on the resort island of Denarau, including the five-star Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort and Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa.
According to the latest data from the Australian Energy Regulator, more than 244,000 Australians are currently on energy hardship plans – the highest level on record.
Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction Dan Tehan said Labor’s priorities were all wrong.
“Chris Bowen can’t deliver Australians their promised $275 power bill cut, but he can splash the cash for a luxury overseas climate conference,” Mr Tehan said.
“Instead of working hard to deliver cheaper energy bills back at home, the Albanese Labor Government is more interested in pulling out all the stops for foreign bureaucrats to spend a few days in Fiji.
“In contrast to Labor, the Coalition is focused on core business – our plan will deliver cheaper, better and fairer energy prices by scrapping Labor’s carbon taxes and axing Net Zero.”
Pre-COP, which will take place in Fiji and Tuvalu in October, is the precursor to COP, which is being held in Antalya, Turkey in November. Chris Bowen is the President of Negotiations for the international climate conferences and has established in his own Department an Office of the Presidency.
