Portland Lighthouse Home Inc. was established in 2012 and is an incorporated association with members having vast lived experience of support and accommodation needs of people with disability.
Portland Lighthouse Home Inc. has constructed a purpose designed four bedroom house with a one bedroom self-contained unit. This home for people with a disability has been achieved through a partnership between the Portland Lighthouse Home Inc., genU Karingal St Laurence and the Department of Social Services.
The Portland Lighthouse Home project was completed in July 2018.
The accommodation will support five residents and includes undercover outdoor living spaces, a staff office/sleep over room, and accessible parking.
The house has two living areas, dining and kitchen with walk-in pantry, four bedrooms with ensuites, fully accessible main bathroom and an accessible laundry. The house also has a multi-purpose room suitable to accommodate family and friends staying over. The self-contained unit will has a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and European laundry.
The project has been constructed to achieve Platinum level Liveable Housing Design Standard and satisfy the Access and Mobility standards.
