The Australian Government has supported the Prostate Cancer Nurses (PCN) Program through grants to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) since 2013-14.
In the 2019-20 Budget, the Morrison Government committed an additional $17.35 million over three years to continue and expand the PCN Program. This latest expansion will result in Government funding of up to $23.25 million for the PCFA from 2020-21 to 2022-23 to continue funding the existing Commonwealth-funded PCNs and employ additional PCNs in over 40 locations by 2022-23.
From 1 July 2020, a PCN (0.6 Full-Time Equivalent) will be funded at Warrnambool (South West Health Service). It is anticipated that up to 15,000 Australian men will be assisted by a PCN between 2020-21 and 2022-23.
