Better Roads, Rail and Air

The Warrnambool Line Upgrade will deliver more frequent and reliable train services for passengers. The Warrnambool Line Upgrade will be delivered in two stages.

(Stage 2)
Stage 2 will build on the benefits from Stage 1 and will allow VLocity trains to travel on the Warrnambool Line and includes:

  • Upgrades to train detection technology at more than 50 public level crossings
  • A stabling upgrade at Warrnambool Station.

2017
(Stage 1)
The Warrnambool Line Upgrade will allow for a fifth daily return service between Warrnambool and Melbourne and help pave the way for VLocity trains on the line. The project will deliver more frequent and reliable train services for Warrnambool’s growing population. It will also support rail freight and allow export products to be moved more quickly and reliably to the Port of Melbourne, benefitting the local economy. $226,352,134
