The Coalition’s approach
When in government, the Coalition provided assistance to have the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list and the Glenelg Estuary and Discovery Bay approved for listing as Victoria’s 12th Ramsar site.
The Coalition has also provided support for hundreds of environmentally sustainable projects right across the electorate such as:
- the restoration of the Grange Burn and the Glenelg River in Hamilton;
- the enhancement of estuaries in the Portland Basin;
- the restoration of fisheries habitats in rivers in and around Warrnambool;
- the enhancement of prospects for the recovery of the Eastern Quoll in South-West Victoria;
- and the management of habitats of threatened woodland fauna in Western Victoria.
