Almost one million migrants have arrived in just two years under the Albanese Labor Government as Australians struggle through a housing crisis.
445,600 additional migrants arrived in Australia in Financial Year 2023-24, according to the Net Overseas Migration (NOM) data published today by the ABS.
Labor has again overshot its migration target, this time by an additional 50,600 migrants.
It follows the record-breaking 518,000 migrant arrivals under Labor in FY22-23.
Labor is highly likely to miss its migration target of 260,000 for the current financial year, after the ABS reported 150,530 net arrivals in the first quarter of 24-25.
That’s despite Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s repeated promise that his government would cut migration to 260,000.
Labor’s failures to manage immigration and national security are everywhere you look, with the latest data revealing the number of failed asylum seekers in the country who have not been deported passed 90,000 last month.
While the total number of asylum seekers in the country broke the 120,000 mark last month.
Prime Minister Albanese needs to answer three questions today:
1. Does the Prime Minister stand by his previous commitments that his government will cut migration to 260,000 this year?
2. How can Australians trust the Prime Minister to manage migration when his government has got it wrong so consistently?
3. Where will all these people live?
When Labor was first elected they said annual migration would be 235,000 each year over three years of their term in government.
The real annual migration figures under Labor are 518,000 (22-23), 445,600 (23-24) and ? (24-25).
Anthony Albanese has no credibility when it comes to managing immigration. Every day that Labor is in charge of immigration the mess gets bigger and bigger.
