Residents of Birregurra, Stoneleigh, Anglesea and Wurdiboluc will benefit from a significant road safety boost with the announcement of an investment of $4,552,000 towards four projects under the Victoria 2026–27 Black Spot Program.

Member for Wannon Dan Tehan said community input has been critical in identifying dangerous locations across the electorate and securing targeted funding to improve road safety.

“Road crashes place major emotional and economic strain on communities, particularly on the families and friends of those involved,” Mr Tehan said.

“In recent years, several lives have been lost on local roads across our region, some due to poor road conditions. That is simply unacceptable, and it’s why this investment is so important.”

Mr Tehan said the upgrades will be delivered at Princes Highway / Conns Lane, Birregurra; Eurambeen–Streatham / Mt William Intersection, Stoneleigh; Anglesea Town Centre; and Cape Otway Road between Mathisons Road and Gherang Road / Buckley Road South, Wurdiboluc.

“These are well-known black spots, and this funding will deliver real safety improvements for both local residents and visitors to our region.”

He said strong community advocacy had been essential in securing funding for these projects.

“I thank all constituents who have advocated tirelessly for these upgrades. Their efforts have been vital in highlighting where action is needed to prevent crashes and save lives in our regional communities.”

Mr Tehan said he would continue to push for further investment in road safety across Wannon.

“I will continue to advocate strongly for all additional funding needed to fix dangerous roads across our electorate and to ensure our communities remain safe.

“While this investment is very welcome, there is still much more to be done to address the number of high-risk sites across Wannon.

“Road safety must remain a priority, and I will keep working to secure the investment regional Victoria deserves.”
