An elected Dutton Coalition Government will provide immediate cost of living relief for Australians by halving the fuel excise for 12 months.
The 25-cent cut to the fuel excise will save a household with one vehicle filling up once a week around $14 a week, which is a saving of around $700-750 over 12 months (based on a 55 litre tank).
Households with two cars filling up once a week will save around $28 a week on average – or close to $1,500 over 12 months.
An elected Coalition Government will introduce the enacting legislation on the first day of the next Parliament to ensure the cut comes into effect as quickly as possible.
Member for Wannon Dan Tehan said only an elected Coalition Government would deliver meaningful cost of living relief to Wannon families.
“Australians are worse off today after three years of the Albanese Labor Government, with inflation higher, interest rates are up, and the largest fall in living standards in history,” Mr Tehan said.
“Australia can’t afford to continue on its current path, we need to rebuild the economy and get Australia back on track.
“An elected Coalition Government will provide support to families in a cost of living crisis that Labor's created, and that means fixing our energy system, it means providing hope for young Australians in terms of home ownership and making sure we can provide guarantees around health and education funding and essential services.”
