Last night, I tabled a petition against the widescale plantation of blue gums in the Heytesbury Settlement in south west Victoria, in Parliament. The petition secured 1,378 signatures, a compelling number that the Albanese Labor government must not ignore. I outlined the local community’s considerable concerns and called on the Federal Government to place a moratorium on additional land being purchased until they are addressed. Enough is enough. The Albanese Labor Government must act before more prime agricultural lands disappears to oversees interests.
