The project will see existing feral willow, poplar and box hawthorn trees removed and mulched. The river banks will then be rehabilitated with native trees and shrubs (with maybe an occasional selected exotic tree included) and walking tracks developed. A contractor will be tasked with on-site mulching/chipping of the trees (most have already been treated with herbicide and dead). The mulch will retard weed growth. Once the area is cleared walking tracks will be developed and native trees and shrubs planted. Our community is wholly supportive of the project.
