The Hawkesdale Cemetery Trust would like to purchase a zero turn mower to mow the 3.5 acres of land that the main part of the cemetery is in. The remainder of the cemetery (3.5 acres) is fenced with a native plantation. The members mow around the graves with a hand mower however we pay a contractor to mow the majority of the grounds and roadside.
Due to a decline in funerals (a main form of income), the members have decided to purchase a mower and do the large mow themselves which will mean less expenditure being used to pay the contractor. All the members support this initiative as they are all prepared to do the mowing on a roster basis. The mower will be kept on site in a shed which means that members do not have to bring their own equipment. The safety of our members is paramount and the transporting of personal equipment is a concern.
