Heywood Transfer Station Improvements
Glenelg

$150,000

Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development

The proposed upgrades to the Heywood Transfer Station will support the community by providing user-friendly facilities and up-to-date facilities and site. The site requires new storage sheds and office with solar power and battery storage to meet environmental compliance. The new storage sheds will provide cover to recyclable items like e-waste, mattresses, car batteries and the alike. The current e-waste storage infrastructure at Heywood Transfer Station is non-compliant in relation to EPA Victoria’s standards. Other items that present OHS/environmental risks will be kept out of the weather which will mitigate some of the associated risks. A new secure office will also be built within one of the shed bays and will be solar powered with battery backup. The current power supply is a generator which is around 20 years old and has many OHS risks associated with it, such as exposed leads and manual handling.
