The proposed upgrades to the Merino Transfer Station will support the community by providing user-friendly facilities and an up-to-date site. The new storage sheds will provide cover to recyclable items like e-waste, mattresses, car batteries and the alike. The current e-waste storage infrastructure at Merino Transfer Station is non-compliant in relation to EPA Victoria’s standards. A new secure office will also be built within one of the shed bays and will be solar powered with battery backup. The current power supply is a generator which is around 20 years old and thus has many associated OHS risks. Merino Transfer Station will have a fully installed and plumbed toilet. The current office is an old portable from the construction of Portland Aluminum. It needs replacement as it is significantly run-down .
