Getting vocational education right is critically important because it can change lives.
This week in Parliament I acknowledged some of the local young people who have been recognised at the South West TAFE’s annual Trades Awards night.
More than 260 people attended the awards night to celebrate the outstanding achievements of students across automotive, carpentry, cabinet making, electrical engineering and plumbing trades.
Major award winners on the night included:
• Electrotechnology Apprentice of the Year: Kasey Smith - Bega Group, Koroit
• Automotive Apprentice of the Year: Dominic Knuckey Holswich - Christian Autos, Terang
• Carpentry Apprentice of the Year: Lachlan King - MM Hearn Construction, Port Fairy
• Fabrication Engineering Apprentice of the Year: Barry Powell - Wanraine Engineering, Wannon
• Mechanical Engineering Apprentice of the Year: Jakeb Jones - Keppel Prince, Portland
• Plumbing Apprentice of the Year: Brad Williams - South West Roofing, Warrnambool
