The Eurambeen-Streatham Road Glenelg Highway intersection is a notoriously dangerous intersection in my electorate where accidents occur on a regular basis. There have sadly been four fatalities there in the last five years as well as dozens of accidents that have resulted in serious injuries.
When the Coalition was in government, we allocated $2.5 million dollars to the State government to fix this intersection which they committed to doing. However, as is the case with so many projects right across Victoria, even though the planning has been done, action has stalled.
I call on the State government to get to work on this project because if they don’t then the reality is there are likely to be more accidents.
I raised this issue with the Infrastructure Minister this week. Her office has given me a commitment to report back as to why this project has stalled.
