Liberals to deliver more apprentices and build more homes

The Liberals will invest in skills training as a key part of their plan to deliver more affordable homes.

A Liberal Government will establish a national network of Australian Technical Colleges, beginning with an investment of $260 million to deliver the first 12.

“Labor’s signature housing policies have failed to deliver a single additional home,” said Dan Tehan, Member for Wannon.

“At the same time, Labor has brought in one million additional people in two years - making housing unaffordable for many young Australians.”

“Increasing housing supply is an important part of delivering more affordable homes.”

“This investment will ensure we have the skills and workforce to do exactly that.”

The announcement follows the Liberals’ commitment to set a target of 400,000 apprentices and trainees in training.

To achieve this, the Liberals will offer small and medium businesses $12,000 to put on and train a new apprentice or trainee.

“We want more young people to take up a trade, build a great career and contribute to our national success.”

“Together, these investments will restore the Australian dream of home ownership and help get our country back on track,” said Mr. Tehan.
