Better Roads, Rail and Air

The Regional Airports Program is a competitive grants program intended to:

  • improve the safety of aircraft, operators and passengers using regional airports or aerodromes,
  • facilitate improved delivery of essential goods and services such as food supplies, health care and passenger air services,
  • improve the connectivity of Australia’s regions to domestic and global market opportunities, and
  • meet the operational requirements of aeromedical and other emergency services in the region.

Colac Airport, Stage 2 upgrade to extend the sealed taxiway and create a new entrance for emergency services use, fencing and lighting works $290,000
2020
(Round 1)
Colac Airport, the proposed new taxiways will expand the airport's parking facilities, allowing emergency services aircraft more space to park. Currently, these aircraft are forced to park on the airport's grass runway, which prevents its use as an alternate landing/take-off runway during the fire season. $112,500
