$55 million is available to co-fund projects that will fix mobile phone blackspots to provide new and improved mobile coverage in regional and remote areas of Australia.
Dan Tehan, the Member for Wannon, is encouraging councils and communities in Wannon to identify areas or locations where mobile phone blackspots exist.
“I am encouraging constituents in Wannon to identify potential projects or locations which would benefit from new and improved coverage,” Mr Tehan said.
“If anyone would like a project to be considered for funding, I encourage you to submit details to my office in Hamilton or Warrnambool or your local council.”
“A particular focus of the current funding round to fix mobile phone blackspots is for areas that are prone to natural disasters where improved phone coverage will help
during emergencies.”
To identify and submit potential projects or locations that would benefit from better mobile coverage, projects need to be submitted by my office or councils in Wannon to
the Project Noticeboard for Round 8 by 7 February 2025 at: www.infrastructure.gov.au/mbsp
Once my office or a local council identifies blackspot areas on the Project Noticeboard, mobile network operators and infrastructure providers will then be able to consider the project proposals and engage with other applicants on the development of joint proposals.
