An elected Coalition Government will provide $36 million to fund road and infrastructure projects delivered by Wannon local councils.

Member for Wannon Dan Tehan has committed to the reintroduction of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, that provides a funding allocation to councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects in their area.

“When the Albanese Labor Government axed this program local councils across Wannon missed out on funding to deliver projects that they had identified as important and our community has suffered as a result,” Mr Tehan said.

“An elected Coalition Government will reintroduce this funding program and work with local councils to identify, fund and deliver these locally important projects.

“The responsibility to fix potholes and improve our roads or build important community infrastructure, like change sheds and public toilets, falls mostly on our local councils and that’s why the Coalition will support them to meet the community’s needs.”

Previously funded projects in Wannon have included sealing of roads, rural culvert and drainage works, footpath construction, upgrades to sporting facilities, such as Cobden Recreation Reserve and Hanlon Park netball courts and improvements to community facilities such as the Mud Brick Hut in Winchelsea.
