An elected Liberals Government will invest $3.3 million towards the redevelopment of the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve, delivering a modern sports pavilion and new female change rooms to meet the needs of local sporting clubs and the wider community.
Liberal Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, said the upgrades would enhance participation in community sport, particularly from women and girls, while ensuring the reserve remains a key hub for grassroots sport.
“Investing in community sporting facilities like the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve is about supporting local sport, strengthening community connections and ensuring everyone has access to quality infrastructure,” Mr. Tehan said.
“More women and girls are getting involved in local sport. It’s essential we provide modern and accessible amenities. Upgrades to the pavilion will also improve access and opportunities for players, spectators and the wider community.”
South Colac Sports Club President, Mick Baker, welcomed the funding commitment.
“This commitment from Dan Tehan and the Liberal Party will be a game-changer for the club and the broader sporting community,” he said.
“The new changing rooms will allow us and other groups such as the cycling and cricket clubs to support the increasing number of female athletes and players we have joining us. We’ll also be able to accommodate more teams and competitions, while the new pavilion will serve as a fantastic hub for both players and supporters.”
Only Dan Tehan and the Liberals have a plan to build a strong economy and invest in Wannon’s future, ensuring regional communities have the sporting infrastructure they need to thrive.
